JLL's South America 2016 Destinations Report – This year's report points to the general consensus that 2016 was a turbulent year for many South American markets: currency devaluation, political uncertainty, decline in oil and commodity prices, unforeseen natural/safety and security issues (e.g., Zika, Ecuador's earthquake), among other external shocks. That said, several trends, such as growing visitation figures, recent political and economic reforms, seem to indicate that we may have weathered the storm. Additionally, given the currency devaluation experienced in many of the markets, the year-over-year change in ADR and RevPAR is displayed in both USD and local currency terms.
